Spatial industries Business Association (SIBA) is the Australian and New Zealand peak industry organisation representing private business in the spatial industries, a group which includes surveying, aerial photography, remote sensing, mapping, satellite positioning, geographic information systems analysis, and the related hardware and software support activities.
SIBA’s purpose is to foster an opportunity rich environment for its members and to help them find ways to improve their businesses and enhance the value of their enterprise. SIBA does this in three main streams of activity –
1. Providing direct business supports
· Business Practice Manual, Workplace documentation, Industrial Relations, Business Practice Toolkits, Salary Surveys, Fee Complaints and other Customer Advice, Business Intelligence Feeds, Information Services, Weekly Tender Alert, Professional Indemnity Insurance, Liasion with Government Agencies, etc etc
2. Creating a better business environment
· Addressing the Skills Resources Issues, Access to Public Sector Data, Input to Government Policy, Intellectual Property, Limitation of Liability, Input to Professional Registration and Accreditation, Positioning of the Industry, Networking and Collaboration, etc etc
3. Creating a future demand
· Economic Studies, Promoting the Industry in new Areas like Water, Carbon Trading, Promoting the concept of Spatial Information as Infrastructure, National Elevation Data Framework, Identification of New Work Sources Generally, Industry Promotion Generally, etc etc
Doing collectively those business related things that are more expensive, more difficult or even impossible to do individually.
